SABAH SURVEYS | The Electoral Commission (EC) has advised a person alleged to receive money from a candidate to submit a report to the MACC.

The head of the Electoral Commission (EC), Abdul Ghani Salleh, said this when asked about an allegation that BN-Umno’s candidate for Melalap, Jamawi Jaafar, was caught on video handing out incentives to voters.

Since then, Jamawi had denied the accusation.

“In relation to electoral crimes, we have prepared channels for these cases to be referred to the MACC,” he said.

Five complaint centers have been opened for this purpose, he added.

“In this case, the individual has to submit a report to the authority,” Abdul Ghani said.

In the short video clip that circulated on social media, Jamawi was seen delivering a note to a female voter.

However, he denied having handled bills and pointed to their white color.

MACC has reportedly received 10 reports since the start of the Sabah state election campaign on September 12.

He also arrested two members of the security forces personnel for allegedly receiving and distributing money to buy votes for a candidate.
