KUALA LUMPUR: The government has decided to allow movements in states and districts across the country without the need for a police permit, except in areas under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

Chief Minister (Security Group) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pix) said the lifting of the restriction would take effect from Monday (December 7, 2020).

He said the government also agreed that all vehicles can carry the number of passengers according to their capacity allowed from Monday.

“The police will also remove obstacles as of December 7, but will focus on compliance with standard operating procedure (SOP),” he said at a press conference on the development of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO). here today.

As such, he said, the government expects people to take care of their own safety and take the stipulated preventive measures.

Meanwhile, on the details of the SOP violations, Ismail Sabri said that the police arrested 491 people yesterday.

Of the total, he said that 437 compounds were issued, while 54 were forwarded.

At Op Benteng, Ismail Sabri said 116 immigrants were detained while a boat and a vehicle were seized in operations across the country.

“From July 24 to December 4, 81,513 people have returned to their homes through international checkpoints,” he said.

He said that of the total, 11,324 people are undergoing mandatory quarantine at 78 hotels and 17 public training institutes and private educational institutions across the country.

According to him, 509 people were sent to hospitals for treatment, while 69,680 people were allowed to return home, he said. -Called
