The government opens more sectors

PETALING JAYA: Some other sectors and activities will be allowed to resume operations starting tomorrow, Chief Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced today through a live press conference.

Recreational fishing that includes operators of “kelong” (offshore platforms), raft houses, fishing ponds, houseboats, fishing boats and watercraft is now allowed.

Driving institutes may also operate and must ensure that staff and student drivers strictly follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The permit to operate covers the driving curriculum classes, the pre-driving test and the practical sessions.

In addition to that, sports activities that include gymnastics, golf, motorsports, badminton and tennis will also be allowed as it does not involve contact.

“For these sports, all activities must be scheduled and by appointment. Walk-ins are not allowed to check the number of people in the facility, ”Ismail Sabri said.

Sports like soccer, basketball, hockey, and sepak takraw will also be allowed for self-training only.

Meanwhile, an Enhanced Motion Control (EMCO) order will be executed in Bandar Raub Perdana, Raub, Pahang from tomorrow until February 25.

“The Ministry of Health has reported that 75 people have been declared close contacts of a positive case of Covid-19,” he said.

Of the total, 40 RT-PCR samples were taken, which resulted in 35 negative results and the remaining five are still pending results.

On a related matter, Ismail Sabri said the police have detained 575 people for violating standard operating procedures.

Of that number, 532 were issued compounds, 39 in pretrial detention and four were released on bail.

The highest number of arrests was 103 (no equipment was provided to record customer details).

Other arrests included failing to comply with physical distancing (96), not wearing masks (96), crossing the state / district without prior approval (70), going out without a valid reason (50), more than two people eating at a local per table (17), venues that operate against the established time limit or without permission (16), club and pub activities (10) and others (117) ”.

Ismail Sabri also claimed that yesterday the police conducted 72,474 checks to make sure the SOPs were being met.

The controls were carried out by 3,366 teams that included 15,761 people.

In addition, yesterday a total of 37 illegal immigrants were arrested and six land vehicles seized.

The police, along with the military and border control officers, also implemented a total of 522 roadblocks across the country.
