According to Zuraida, SOPs clearly spell out the existing legal provisions contained in the Urban and Rural Planning Act (Act 172), Streets, Drainage and Construction Act (Act 133) and Uniform Building Regulations 1984 (UKBS 1984).

“In an attempt to improve efficiency and effectiveness, several enhancements are described in the SOPs.

“Among them is the provision of uniform flow charts and simplified document checklists, as well as the request for a special permit to begin construction works simultaneously with the temporary permit.

It also describes the preparation of a fire safety compliance checklist before submitting the application to the local authority, the exemption from being referred to the Fire and Rescue Department for comment, as well as the reduction of the duration of the process. approval of the temporary permit from 33 days to 10 days, ”he said.
