He explained that, since there is still a freeze in the hiring of foreign labor and the country’s borders are also closed, a detailed study must first be carried out on the hiring of foreign workers for various sectors.
“Regarding this issue (hiring of foreign labor), on March 29 we will hold a joint meeting with various relevant ministries, including the Ministry of the Interior, and we will also ask the relevant agencies to prepare working papers for detailed study. .
“We cannot take an approach that is too open, detailed studies must be carried out first so as not to jeopardize job opportunities for Malaysians,” he said after participating in an integrated application operation in Bangsar tonight.
Earlier, it was reported that the Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, Datuk Dr. Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali, said that talks would be held with the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Human Resources to hire foreign labor due to an urgent need. in the plantation sector.
Regarding the integrated operation, Saravanan said that around 70 commercial premises were inspected to ensure compliance with regulations under the Employment Law of 1955 (Law 265) and the Infectious Diseases Prevention and Control Law of 1988 (Law 342).
He said that the operation was carried out to ensure the well-being of the employees, especially in terms of compliance with the standard operating procedure (SOP) to slow the spread of the pandemic now that more economic sectors are allowed to operate during the Conditional Movement.
