KUALA LUMPUR: Two photos showing foreign workers in pink armbands still working at a construction site that recently went viral are of those who had undergone a Covid-19 surveillance test at the construction site, and not of contacts close with positive cases, says Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He said that the people involved were given pink armbands to prevent them from leaving the construction site.
“But they can still move within the construction site because it is a surveillance check, not a close contact check. The developer has been asked to ensure that all examinees remain within the construction site area.
“Two security guards posted at the entrance to the construction site and police from the Wangsa Maju District Police Headquarters are also monitoring the area daily,” he said in a post posted on his Facebook account yesterday.
He added that the developer was also recommended to carry out disinfection work on the site, and that construction had stopped from November 13 to 15 for the process and the results to be obtained.
“The release order (was given) and the pink bracelets were cut at 11 am on November 15, 2020 at the construction site. The examination only found one positive case, but this case did not live at the site, ”he said.
He added that there were eight contacts close to the positive case who were still in quarantine from November 7 to 20, while all other employees who were detected negative received the release order on November 15.Called
