On November 18, the appeals trial was held for the manipulation case of the series “Produce 101”.
Previously, PD (producing director) Ahn Joon Young received a sentence of two years along with a fine, and CP (chief producer) Kim Yong Bum received a sentence of one year and eight months. Following the appeals trial on November 18, the court decided to uphold the sentences.
Police Assistant “Lee” and five entertainment agency representatives, who were previously sentenced to fines, have now also received eight-month prison sentences suspended for two years.
The court revealed the list of contestants who were eliminated due to manipulation, commenting: “Disclosure of harmed trainees through a fair criminal trial may be the starting point for them to receive true compensation for damages.” It was decided that the contestants who benefited from the manipulation will not be revealed as they were unaware of the manipulation, and revealing their names could cause them further harm.
