KUALA LUMPUR (September 21): Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) has clarified that the correct upload speed setting for its 500 Mbps packet is 100 Mbps and not 200 Mbps as stated in the previous version of the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ ), the unifi portal and brochures.

TM also reiterated that there have been no changes to the upload speed settings for the new unifi 500Mbps package.

TM said this clarification was in response to the statement made by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) titled “MCMC Siasat Aduan Pengurangan Kelajuan Pakej unifi Berbanding Tawaran Awal”, adding that it would like to assure all its customers and parties interested in their commitment to consumer rights and protection.

“We regret the error and issued a clarifying statement on the matter late Friday,” he said in a statement today.

TM said it remains transparent in informing its customers about this and is adjusting its processes to ensure this does not happen again.

“In the meantime, we will provide our full cooperation to MCMC in its investigation.

“We want to update that all customers are still within the 30-day trial period, as we presented the package less than a month ago on August 24, 2020.

“Therefore, customers can choose not to continue with us without any penalty,” he said.

TM will call customers who have subscribed to the 500Mbps package since August 24 to inform them of the error and the options available to them, starting Monday, September 21.

“We would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused and assure our customers that all of our channels, including our website and marketing materials, have been updated to reflect the correct information,” he said.
