KUALA LUMPUR – A private company that paid outstanding fines of approximately RM500,000 was one of the parties that benefited the most from the 70% discount offered by the Department of Road Transportation (JPJ).
Selangor JPJ chief enforcement officer Mohamad Hafiz Usman said the state JPJ managed to collect RM1.6 million in outstanding subpoenas until August 31. The discount offer will continue until September 30.
He said the cleaning company had taken the opportunity to settle his outstanding fines.
“I think there will be many more coming, especially at the end of this month, which would make the Selangor JPJ pickup one of the biggest pickers in Malaysia,” he told reporters after an operation at the Batu 9 toll plaza here last night. .
Hafiz said that the amount collected involved 21,476 subpoenas.
He said the discount offer applies to all types of JPJ subpoenas, except those involving court cases.
At the Op Fancy held last night, he said 662 citations were issued for various crimes, mostly for driving without a license or having expired driver’s licenses.
