KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Activities in non-Muslim places of worship in the Federal Territories in conjunction with the Christmas celebration are permitted according to the attendance limit established by the National Security Council (NSC), the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of the Federal Territories.
The Kuala Lumpur Department of National Unity and Integration, in a statement, said that the permit is in line with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols on the holiday celebration issued by NSC for the period during the recovery of the MCO and the conditional OLS.
Attendance at prayers is allowed up to a third of the capacity of houses of worship or no more than 30 people per session, he said.
On Friday (December 18), Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that open houses and Christmas carols along with Christmas celebrations are not allowed across the country.
However, those who celebrate the occasion can hold prayer ceremonies on December 24 and 25 in the areas under the recovery and conditional MCO.
These are among the SOPs for the festival which also stipulates that visiting the homes of others is only allowed on the first day (December 25) in the areas where the two MCOs are being enforced.- Bernama
