IPOH: The bodies of two people buried in a landslide were recovered at a hotel located in a mountainous area in Tambun, near here, early this morning.
The first body to be recovered was that of a man identified as 39-year-old Ooi Chee Wei. Five minutes later, the second body was recovered, identified as that of 32-year-old Lee Tze Juin, believed to be Ooi’s wife. .
Perak Acting Police Chief Goh Boon Keong said the bodies were found by a search and rescue team near the hotel’s jacuzzi area.
He said police received a call from the resort owner saying a landslide had occurred around 2.15am.
“A search and rescue operation was carried out immediately, but it was temporarily stopped because there were still earthworks at the scene. The search resumed today at 7 in the morning, ”he said.
The bodies were sent to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for autopsy.
