Have you heard of the Mercedes-AMG ‘Black Series’? This is NOT a range of black Mercedes-Benz vehicles from the AMG engineering department. This is not a range of high performance vehicles like Brabus.

In fact, this is a select number of high-performance, hand-built machines that rank above the AMG range of powerful Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

The latest model in the Black Series is 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT which was unveiled in October of this year and comes in a new vibrant color palette.

There have already been some orders from Malaysia and the first car arrives in December this year.

DSF has test conducted This latest Mercedes-Benz built by AMG in its simplest form and has been blown away to pieces.

It goes without saying that this high-performance machine doesn’t come cheap.

History

The 2006 Mercedes Benz SLK (Mercedes-AMG picture)

It all started in 2006 with the SLK 55 AMG Black Series. The 5.5-liter AMG V8 engine in the purist two-seater beckons drivers with its maximum output of 400 hp and 520 newton-meters of torque.

In 2007 the CLK 63 AMG Black Series followed. The muscular coupé was based on AMG’s official F1 ™ safety car at the time and puts thoroughbred racing technology on the road: the striking front apron with large cooling air vents, widened wings, the rear apron with diffuser and carbon appearance – The fiber spoiler lip visually documents the sporting ambitions in advance.

The performance-enhanced 6.3-liter AMG V8 engine with 507 hp and 630 newton-meters of torque delivers the power.

The coupe accelerated from rest to 100 km / h in 4.3 seconds and reached an electronically limited top speed of 300 km / h.

Newly designed axles, a superbly developed sport coil suspension, 482.6 mm forged wheels, the newly developed steering system and the largest AMG high-performance braking system in composite technology guarantee driving dynamics of the highest level. .

2008 saw the debut of the most powerful series model from Mercedes-AMG to date: the SL 65 AMG Black Series – the two-seater was extreme in every respect.

The 6.0-liter V12 biturbo engine thrills with its 670 hp output and electronically limited 1000 newton-meter torque, now available from 2,200 rpm.

Going from rest to 100 km / h in just 3.8 seconds, its top speed is governed at 320 km / h.

The spectacular appearance with luxurious flares on the wings, large air intakes and outlets, the fixed aero-foil, the fixed coupe roof with an integrated roll bar, makes it clear in no uncertain terms what it is all about: maximum driving performance.

The all-new coil suspension and the wider front and rear track also play a role here.

The roof, hood, trunk lid, front wings and rear apron are made of lightweight carbon fiber. In total, the Black Series weighs 250 kg less than the SL 65 AMG.

With an equally spectacular design, the transfer of current technology from motorsport and vehicle dynamics to the highest level, four years later, in 2012, the C 63 AMG Coupé Black embodied the commitment of the AMG Driving Performance brand at its finest. .

With a maximum power of 517 hp and 620 newton meters of maximum torque, the high-performance vehicle is the most powerful C-Class model to date.

Acceleration from zero to 100 km / h took 4.2 seconds. The coil-adjustable suspension was also a contributing factor to the unique driving pleasure, as was the high-performance compound braking system and the functional level of standard equipment.

To further enhance the driving dynamics, the optional Track package with racing tires and active rear differential cooling, the AMG aerodynamic package with flics, front splitter and adjustable carbon rear aero-foil were available.

Acceleration from zero to 100 km / h is completed in 3.6 seconds, reaching a top speed of 315 km / h.

The vehicle’s maximum dynamics comes courtesy of the newly developed AMG Ride Control Performance suspension, high-performance ceramic composite brake system, electrically controlled locking differential, weight-optimized light-alloy wheels and sports tires from New development.

Upon request, the Aerodynamic Package is available for selection in order to further enhance the vehicle’s dynamics.
