After Apple revealed the new iPhone 12 series last week, it unveiled details on the typical specs we’d expect, except for one important detail: the battery capacity for each of the phones. However, this is part of the course, as Apple does not generally disclose the battery capacity for its iPhone models, but does list the estimated battery life.
Now, according to alleged certification documents from Brazil’s Anatel (the country’s equivalent to the US FCC) obtained by Tecnoblog, it said that the iPhone 12 has a 2,815 mAh battery while the iPhone 12 mini has a capacity of 2,227 mAh.
The iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max batteries are reportedly approved by Anatel, but the capabilities of those devices are not disclosed at this time.
When looking at each of the models individually, the iPhone 12’s stated battery capacity is actually less compared to the 3,109 mAh battery found in last year’s iPhone 11.
Meanwhile, the new iPhone 12 mini has an even smaller battery, which is to be expected given its compact size. At the very least, the iPhone 12 mini’s battery is still larger than the 1,821 mAh battery in the 2020 iPhone SE.
According to Apple, the iPhone 12 mini offers up to 15 hours of video playback. That’s a bit shorter than the iPhone XR, but two hours longer than the 2020 iPhone SE.
There is cause for concern as the iPhone 12 has a higher resolution screen and comes with a smaller battery, which can affect battery life. However, according to Apple’s website, the iPhone 12 retains the same 17-hour battery life as the iPhone 11. This could be the result of improvements made by Apple’s internally developed A14 Bionic chip that uses a process of 5nm fabrication resulting in higher power. efficiency.
The iPhone 12 Pro is rumored to have a 2,775 mAh battery, which is significantly smaller than the 3,109 mAh battery of its predecessor. Meanwhile, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is expected to have a 3,687 mAh battery which is also smaller than the 3,968 mAh capacity of the iPhone 11 Pro Max. However, both figures are unverified, so take this information with a grain of salt.
Besides mentioning the battery capacity, the Anatel documents also mention that the iPhone 12 Pro will be assembled in Brazil and India by Foxconn. Apple has been assembling some of its products in these countries for some time, as both offer tax incentives to companies that make their products locally.
