The 2021 budget will not be politicized

KUALA LUMPUR: Minister of Finance Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz (pix) Today he expressed his confidence that the 2021 Budget will not be politicized and will have the full support of the Members of Parliament for the common good.

The minister also expressed his hope that economic recovery will be achieved next year.

According to Tengku Zafrul, the 2021 budget will build on the momentum of the economic recovery that has started since May, as well as through all the economic stimulus packages, namely the Prihatin Rakyat Economic Stimulus Package (PRIHATIN), the additional economic stimulus Prihatin SME (PRIHATIN SME +), National Economic Recovery Plan (PENJANA) and Prihatin Complementary Initiative Package (KITA PRIHATIN).

He cited the reminder of Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah to stop all the politicking that has disturbed the stability of the country.

Tengku Zafrul further noted that the King had also emphasized that the 2021 Budget, which will be presented in Parliament, was very important for the people in addressing the Covid-19 pandemic and reviving the country’s economy.

Meanwhile, in the report, he said that under the initiative to support the agricultural and food sector through financing and revolving capital, a total of RM30.3 million was channeled as of October 16, benefiting 3,759 entrepreneurs.

Regarding the E-Commerce Campaign for Micro and SMEs, spearheaded by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and launched in late June to help local businesses, he said that 20 e-commerce platforms had supported this effort as strategic implementation partners.

“As of October, more than 45,000 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) have registered through the e-commerce platforms of strategic partners and more than 115,000 MSMEs have benefited in various ways.

“The sales that have been successfully generated through this campaign total more than RM332 million,” he said.

In the “Shop Malaysia Online” (PENJANA Shop Malaysia Online) campaign, a collaboration between the Government and 22 e-commerce platform providers to jointly fund eVoucher discounts to encourage online shopping for local products, it said since its launch on 1 , had generated sales of RM896 million and benefited 7.8 million users, as well as more than 213,000 local vendors.

“In a short time, more than RM1.2 billion of online sales have been successfully generated from these two initiatives,” he added. -Called
