KUALA LUMPUR: Tempers are raging online as the public took to social media to express their frustration over the unscheduled water shutoffs in parts of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur that began on Thursday (September 3).

Many expected the supply to resume in the morning, but were disappointed to see that the taps were still dry.

Facebook user Mohd Saleh Johari asked why water outages kept happening.

“The same problem happens almost two or three times a year. Why can’t there be a permanent solution?” he said.

Muhammad Khairul Akmal urged the Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) to act on the polluters.

“Selangor is a developed state but the same thing happens every year. Please think of a way to solve this problem,” he said.

Priyah Narayansamy joined the chorus of complaints and asked why there was no backup plan in case of contamination.

“Obviously, the enforcement and action has had no effect as the problem continues to occur. There must be a follow-up of past offenders,” he said.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Rashid said that more tanker trucks should be mobilized.

“There are many housing areas in Selangor, and people now have to compete for limited water supplies,” he said.

Meanwhile, William Ong urged Air Selangor to submit a police report on the matter.

“Let the police investigate and arrest those responsible for the contamination,” he said.

Fadliana Azhar agreed, adding that responsible companies must be closed.

“Although they contribute to the economy of the country, they are polluting it. A more severe sanction is needed,” he said.

In a statement on Friday (September 4), Air Selangor said that Phase 1, 2 and 3 of the Sungai Selangor Water Treatment Plants and the Rantau Panjang Water Treatment Plant were still not operating at 6:30. to. M.

This was after odor contamination was detected in the catchment around 9 a.m. Thursday. Air Selangor said the contamination was one ton at press time.

He said that tanker trucks would continue to be mobilized.

Check the Air Selangor app revealed that the estimated time of completion has yet to be confirmed.
