KUALA BERANG (Bernama): A teenage girl was found dead with her left arm cut off and gash wounds on her body in Lubuk Batu, Terlemong here.
The body of the victim, 19-year-old Siti Nur Surya Ismail, was found in the living room of the house by her 15-year-old sister when she returned from school at around 2.30pm on Sunday (November 1).
The head of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Asst Comm Mohd Marzukhi Mohd Mokhtar, said police were alerted to the incident around 3 p.m. and a team rushed to the scene.
According to initial investigations, the incident may have occurred around 9 a.m. and the victim is believed to have been robbed as hundreds of ringgits, two handbags and two mobile phones were missing from her.
“Looking at the wounds on the body of the victim, it is believed that the victim was cut with a sharp weapon. However, the police did not find any weapon,” he told reporters at the scene.
Mohd Marzhuki said the crime may have been committed by a person known to the victim, but the motive and cause of the incident were still under investigation.
Siti’s remains were taken to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Meanwhile, the victim’s father, Ismail Muda, 58, said he was not home at the time of the incident and that Siti Nur Surya was caring for his mother, who was bedridden due to brain cancer.
The father of seven said his youngest daughter informed him of the death of his fifth child.
“Usually Siti Nur Surya went to pick up her sister from school, but today, she did not answer or answer her phone and my youngest son had to walk home.
“When he got home he called me to inform me that his sister was lying in the living room, covered in blood,” he said.
The 55-year-old mother of the victim was not injured. – Bernama
