KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 22): Tech stocks are back on a rally as Bursa Malaysia’s Tech Index rose as high as 3.42% this morning and at least six of its counters hit a record as global sales of semiconductors and spending forecasts point towards 2021.
Leading the pack, ViTrox Corporation Bhd is up 80 sen or 5.03% to a new high of RM16.70 per share, making it the top Bursa winner this morning. Its market capitalization is currently RM7.88 billion.
This was followed by Unisem (M) Bhd, which rose 75 sen or 9.7% to 8.48 yuan at noon, after falling from its new high of 8.59 yuan this morning.
Third, UWC Bhd was up 70 sen or 5.95% this morning to a new record of RM12.46 per share. In the last year, UWC’s share price has more than quadrupled.
Other tech stocks that hit a new high today include Pentamaster Corp Bhd (up 5.10% at RM6.18) and Inari Amertron Bhd (up 4.97% at RM3.17).
On top of that, Malaysia Pacific Industries Bhd was also among Bursa Malaysia’s top 10 winners with its shares rising 32 sen or 1.07% to RM30.18.
At noon, the Bursa Malaysia Technology Index rose 2.63 points or 3.37% to a record 80.59.
