Taika Waititi will direct a new Star Wars movie for theatrical release with which he is co-writing 1917 Scribe Krysty Wilson-Cairns, Disney and Lucasfilm announced Monday.
The study also confirmed that a new untitled Star Wars The television series has been in progress on Disney Plus since Russian doll creator Leslye Headland, who Variety reported exclusively last month.
News of the film claims reports that first emerged in January that Waititi was developing a Star Wars movie, right after his well-received job directing the season finale of the hit Disney Plus Star Wars Serie The Mandalorian.

It is unclear if the Waititi movie is one of the three untitled Disney films. Star Wars movies dated December 2022,2024 and 2026, or if it is a separate project.
Previously, the filmmaker was shy with those reports when Variety asked about them in February after he won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for Jojo Rabbit.

Waititi is configured to direct Thor: love and thunder for Disney’s Marvel Studios, which will currently be released in theaters on February 18, 2020.
