SIBU: A housewife was arrested for allegedly assaulting her husband with a knife because she suspected he was having an affair.

Sibu OCPD, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said around 10.30pm on August 31, a police team, acting on the information that a man had been seriously injured during a domestic dispute, rushed to the first floor of a store in Jalan Amoi here.

“The team found a man groaning in pain with cuts on both hands and knees,” he said.

After some questioning, they arrested the man’s 27-year-old wife.

ACP Stanley said at 10 a.m. on Aug. 31, the suspect had prevented the victim, a concrete mixer, from leaving because he suspected she was seeing another woman.

“This led to a fight between the two. In a heated moment, the woman pulled out a butcher knife and tried to cut it,” he said.

Seeing this, the victim used both hands to ward off the attack.

The suspect then took aim at his left leg.

“The suspect’s grandfather stopped the woman by dragging her out of the house while her sister called the police,” he said.

The victim suffered cuts to both hands and left knee.

In addition to arresting the wife, the police also confiscated an 11-inch blade believed to be the weapon.

“The couple have been married for three years and have a son,” ACP Stanley said.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing harm with dangerous weapons.
