KUALA LUMPUR: Supermax Corp Bhd is implementing a three-day stoppage at its manufacturing plant in Meru, Klang due to several positive cases of Covid-19 among its workers.

In a filing before Bursa Malaysia today, the glove maker said that despite strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) in place, the company registered its first case of Covid-19 infection, which is suspected to come from outside carriers.

“The safety and well-being of employees and the local community are top priority in containing the situation.

“The closure, from February 10 to 12, will go a long way toward minimizing the risk of further spread of the virus,” he said.

The company also said that it had been conducting regular Covid-19 screening tests for local and foreign workers at all of its factories.

“Supermax is cooperating and working closely with the Ministry of Health and will continue to adhere to the Covid-19 preventive SOPs in a strict manner.

“Disinfection exercises in all our facilities and worker accommodation will continue to be carried out regularly, with all necessary precautionary measures strictly in place,” he said. -Called
