KUALA LUMPUR: Putrajaya police today denied that they aggravated a supermarket worker in Precinct 8 here for not wearing gloves while on duty, as claimed in a recent viral video clip.

The Rapid Response Team of the Ministry of Communication and Multimedia issued a statement regarding the denial at 7:30 pm today.

Meanwhile, when contacted, the Putrajaya District Police Chief, ACP, Mohd Fadzil Ali, clarified that the complex was for not complying with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and not for not wearing gloves.

He said the video clip had been misinterpreted and does not reflect what actually happened.

Mohd Fadzli said the worker became aggravated after controls discovered that she had not logged into the MySejahtera app and her body temperature was not taken when she showed up for the morning shift.

She said the worker was also recommended to wear gloves as she was dealing with many clients, but the 55-second video was wrongly misinterpreted as having made her worse by not wearing them.

The video clip, titled “Okay, now gloves are mandatory?”, Sparked dissatisfaction among netizens who questioned the police’s understanding of MCO SOPs.

It also came to the attention of Chief Minister (Security Group) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who posted this short reply on Twitter: “No standard operating procedures allowed for wearing gloves.” -Called
