Sultan Nazrin takes care of the representatives

KUALA KANGSAR: The three ceremonies to swear in Perak mentris kissing since the XIV General Election are a reflection of poor leadership among assembly members, says the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.

Sultan Nazrin said that the three ceremonies had also created history for the Perak state assembly.

“However, this is not a story to be proud of.

“It will go down in history as a reflection of failure, not success,” he said at the swearing-in of Kota Tampan Assemblyman Datuk Saarani Mohamad as the 14th Perak Mentri Besar in Istana Iskandariah here yesterday.

Sultan Nazrin said that whether they were represented by assembly members from Perikatan Nasional or Pakatan Harapan, everyone in the state, regardless of race or religion, has the same needs, hopes, deals with the same struggles and seeks the same attention.

“You were elected assembly members because people trusted you.

“They expected you to help them improve their living conditions, provide them with the necessary services, improve their economic situation and satisfy their social needs as much as possible,” he said.

Sultan Nazrin said that people, especially low-income people, the poor, or those who lost their jobs and income due to the Covid-19 pandemic, should not suffer.

He used the Malay proverb of a mouse deer that dies when trapped between two fighting elephants to describe the plight of ordinary Perakians.

“Allah will always answer the prayers of those who are persecuted by others, so do not persecute people just because you are engulfed in emotions, revenge and rigid political thinking,” he said.

Sultan Nazrin said that a righteous man would persevere in ordering what is right and forbidding what is wrong because he knows that Allah will be his strength, protection and defense.

“You don’t need to offer a bribe or an incentive to gain support and loyalty, and you don’t need to intimidate or threaten anyone to build your strength,” he said.

The Ruler said that a person’s true colors will prevail when he attains position, power and wealth to the point of going from being modest and humble to being arrogant and haughty.

Furthermore, Sultan Nazrin visited members of the media who had been working from Dewan Jubli Perak here at around 3:45 pm and praised them for covering the Perak political crisis.

The ruler of Perak took the time to greet and speak with those gathered there.

“Where are you all from? How long have you been waiting in the hallway? Are you all based in Ipoh? Were some of the questions he asked.

Earlier, speaking after Mentri Besar’s swearing-in ceremony, Sultan Nazrin also thanked members of the media who had camped out on the outskirts of Istana Kinta in Ipoh during the crisis.

“The media was engaged, they had to endure the heat and heavy rains just to deliver news to the people.

“The police also did their best to monitor the situation,” he said.
