JOHOR BAHRU: The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, has agreed to appoint his son, the Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail, as the leader of all youth activities in the state.

The Chairman of the Johor Royal Court Council, Abdul Rahim Ramli, said in a statement that the move was taken because the ruler was confident that his son could facilitate positive youth development and lead the group to success.

The confidence is based on Tunku Ismail’s extensive experience in administrative matters, including managing the Johor Darul Ta’zim soccer team towards success, allowing him to make a name for himself on the international stage.

The Sultan, in a statement posted on Facebook, hoped that the youth of Bangsa Johor would strengthen their identity and achieve future goals.

Rahim added that the Sultan had always been very concerned about the development of the youth, as he felt that the continued development of the state, in accordance with Bangsa Johor’s aspirations and wishes, depended on the youth.

As such, he called on youth groups, regardless of race and religion, to work together in harmony in the development of the state.

Following the appointment, the Chairman of the Johor State Youth Council (MBNJ), Md Salleheen Mohamad, in a statement, said that under Tunku Ismail’s leadership, the government would pay full attention to the youth of the state, especially in terms of youth empowerment in the development agenda and volunteer movements.
