The Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) in a statement said today that the main contractor, MRCB Builders Sdn Bhd, was fined RM80,000, while subcontractor Makna Setia Sdn Bhd was fined RM100. .000.

Both contractors were fined under Section 34B (1) (c) and Section 34C (1) of the CIDB Act of 1994 (Act 520), respectively, which stipulates that it is the contractor’s duty to ensure the safety of the work of building and construction during or after construction.

“The CIDB investigation found that the subcontractor also did not follow proper work procedures and also had a non-accredited site supervisor.

“Therefore, the subcontractor is instructed to make improvements to safety procedures, including sending employees, site supervisors and construction managers for accreditation,” the statement read.

The CIDB also ordered the subcontractor to conduct a third party safety audit on the safety of the project, the work procedure and operation, as well as the management of the construction site.

“Throughout the investigation, both companies cooperated, even promising to improve procedures and implement safe practices in the workplace,” he said.

On September 19, a woman cheated to death when a concrete slab fell on her car while driving on Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2), causing her car to be crushed. She was injured in her left arm.
