CHA ALAM: The founder of the Sugarbook app has been arrested again by the police for assisting in the investigation of a rape and prostitution case today.
Selangor CID chief Datuk Fadzil Ahmat said the 34-year-old’s arrest followed a police report from an institution of higher education students in 2019.
He said that the incident took place in Subang Jaya on February 19, 2019.
“The suspect was detained to facilitate the investigation under sections 376 and 372 of the Penal Code after a police report made by the student,” he said in a statement here today.
This morning, the man was released after High Court Deputy Registrar Noorasyikin Sahat rejected a request for pretrial detention, after agreeing to cooperate with the police in the request.
Fadzil said the director of the Selangor prosecution had requested a review of the decision.
“The request will be heard before a High Criminal Court judge in Shah Alam at 9 am tomorrow,” he said.
