PKR chief information officer Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin says that Dr. Mahathir Mohamad should not stand in PH’s way to retake government.

PETALING JAYA: PKR criticized Dr. Mahathir Mohamad for criticizing the ability of party chairman Anwar Ibrahim to lead the nation, and told his former ally Pakatan Harapan (PH) to stop trying to divide the coalition.

This follows reports that Mahathir said that Anwar would not make a good prime minister as he could not pull the country out of a financial crisis.

PKR chief information officer Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin said Mahathir’s attack on Anwar was unfounded and akin to hampering PH’s efforts to retake government.

He said Mahathir seemed desperate to remain relevant in the political arena and should instead help Anwar and PH’s work to restore the rule of the people.

“We are all aware of the failure of Mahathir as prime minister to defend the reform agenda and the mandate of the people in the 22 months that PH ruled the country.

“Mahathir’s resignation without arguing with the PH leaders was one of the causes of the fall of the government, leading to the seizure of power by Muhyiddin Yassin and his band of PPBM leaders.

“Amidst Anwar and PH’s efforts to gain support to restore the mandate of the people who have been robbed, Mahathir needs to stop his actions, which are now seen as a movement to divide PH and thwart such efforts (to retake the government ), “he said in a statement today.

Shamsul reminded Mahathir that the political instability in the country was caused by the former prime minister’s own actions, telling him to “repent.”
