Since the pandemic began, Rashford has been relentless in helping organize the production and delivery of food for children in poverty, with the help of charities alongside him.

Rashford has also held the government to account and forced the Prime Minister to make a U-turn on free school meals.

The United forward’s campaign has not stopped earning the respect of his fellow professionals.

His England teammate Raheem Sterling and former United teammate Romelu Lukaku were among those who sent public messages of congratulations to Rashford for his recognition.

For Rashford, his hard work off the court is not intended to win awards; it’s about using his status to benefit children who need someone like him to step up.

Of course, it’s good that their work is appreciated, and for Rashford, the comments from his former teammates will likely mean even more than the award itself.

On a day when Rashford helped United win 6-2 on the field over rivals Leeds, it has been a successful 24 hours for him.

But on and off the court this time of year, the work never stops for Rashford.
