PETALING JAYA: A youth leader from Sabah PKR has demanded that DAP explain its position on Anwar Ibrahim’s position as leader of Pakatan Harapan (PH) and the opposition.
This comes after Sabah DAP Youth Chief Phoong Jin Zhe called for a new opposition leader to replace PKR President Anwar, days after Warisan President Shafie Apdal made a call. Similary.
Assemblyman Luyang Phoong said that when Anwar did not follow through on his earlier claim to have the numbers to form the government, many questioned and mocked PH’s credibility.
In a statement today, Sabah PKR Youth Chief Information Officer Razeef Rakimin said the DAP should explain whether Phoong’s call represents the official position of the party.
He said that since the “Sheraton Move,” which saw the fall of the PH-led federal government, Anwar has been accepted by all PH components as the PH leader and the opposition.
As such, he said, any effort to replace him is seen as a “hostile” move.
“PKR has supported our allies in PH through thick and thin. Disputes are acceptable but must arise out of good intentions, not hidden agendas and opportunism.
“The DAP should clarify its official position on the unfounded attacks against Anwar from various parties,” he said.
Yesterday, DAP Secretary General Lim Guan Eng and Amanah President Mohamad Sabu said the opposition needed a “political reboot” and should stop wasting time with the “opportunist” supporters of Perikatan Nasional who they explode.
Meanwhile, Amanah Youth chief Shazni Munir described calls for Anwar to be replaced as opposition leader as “mischievous.”
“The reality is that within Pakatan Harapan, there are no calls for the opposition leader to be changed, apart from Anwar’s own statements before this that he would be willing to step back if he were a drag,” he said during a dialog. titled “Kita Bincang: 108 Suara Terkuat Pembankang” last night.
But, Shazni said, none of the three parties said he was a drag or asked him to resign.
