FLORIDA (ANN): Anti-maskers organized a flash mob inside a Target store in Florida, United States, while dancing to the song “We are not going to take it” to protest against the health protocol imposed during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The video of the protest took the internet by storm when it appeared on Reddit and Twitter, reaching thousands of people since yesterday, September 16.

The group of protesters, wearing “Make America Great Again” T-shirts and caps, can be seen dancing and parading, yelling at people in masks to “take it off!” A woman in the group can also be heard yelling, “We won’t take it anymore!”

Both adults and children participated in the protest, as seen in the clip shared by Twitter user @ davenewworld_2. Since then, the tweet has earned more than 55,000 likes, 11,000 retweets, and 61,000 tweets with quotes, as of this writing.

The flash mob without a mask occurred in the city of Fort Lauderdale in Broward County, where he is required to cover his face in public spaces, such as establishments.

The retail chain, which also requires shoppers to wear face masks, said they made protesters leave when the masks were removed and “became disruptive and rude to other shoppers,” according to HuffPost yesterday.

One of the participants of the flash mob, Cristina Gómez, meanwhile, broadcast the event live on her Facebook account. The live broadcast begins with a man giving an anti-mask speech, proclaiming September 15 as “the day we say goodbye to the masks.”

The man argued that “if someone wants to wear a mask and go to a grocery store, let them wear a mask. But how come if your mask works, I have to wear one too? “

However, this is not the first time that Gomez has gone viral, as he also took over the internet in June for his public address against face masks, claiming that they were “literally killing people.”

“Each and every one of you who is obeying the devil’s laws is going to be arrested and you, doctor, are going to be arrested for crimes against humanity,” he said in the speech, the clip of which was also shared on Twitter by former player. Rex Chapman on June 25.

So far, more than 197,000 people have died from Covid-19 in the US, nearly 13,000 of whom are from Florida. Meanwhile, about 6.65 million people have been infected in the country, with more than 671,000 from Florida, as of this writing. – Philippine Daily Inquirer / Asia News Network
