PUTRAJAYA Today is the second day of the fourth phase of the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) that saw the government continue efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Today, people will also learn about the standard operating procedure (SOP) related to the opening of kindergartens and kindergartens during the fourth phase of the MCO.
Chief Minister (security group) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pix), at a press conference yesterday, said the issue will be discussed today at the meeting of special ministers on the implementation of the MCO.
During the same meeting, the Minister of the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Seri Dr. Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri, will also discuss the POE on related matters, while the Ministry of Youth and Sports will raise issues about sporting events, such as the Malaysian soccer leagues.
The fourth phase of the MCO also saw the government giving room for maneuver by allowing two people to travel in one vehicle, but they have to be from a family living in the same house, and the movement is to buy food and essential daily items.
Previously, only the head of the household could go out to buy food and daily essentials.
Permission to move is now for the purpose of purchasing everyday items or seeking medical attention or medical services outside a 10 kilometer radius if the articles or services are not available within 10 km of the individual’s home.
On punishment for MCO challengers, Ismail Sabri said there are no different types of punishment, as the government has always been fair to everyone and the legal actions taken were in line with the charges.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Health, Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, said that even with the reduction of the MCO restrictions, it is important that everyone follows the guiding principles provided by the Ministry of Health to avoid any increase in new cases.
He said that the ministry would monitor the situation and allow the reopening of other sectors and services, such as social and educational.
Malaysia yesterday posted a new low record of only 22 local cases, the lowest since the MCO was implemented on March 18.
A total of 94 new cases of Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which 72 were imported from Malays who returned from Indonesia.
The total number of 19 Covid cases in the country now stands at 5,945 and 100 deaths, with no new deaths reported yesterday, apart from 55 patients who were discharged, bringing the total of those who have fully recovered to 4,087 cases.
So if we want the statistics on Covid-19 cases to continue falling, it is up to us to continue complying with the MCO. – Bernama
