Sony Malaysia has begun accepting pre-orders for its current flagship Xperia 1 II smartphone. As previously revealed, the device is officially priced at 4999 RM and is expected to go on sale in November 2020.
To protect your Sony Xperia 1 II (pronounced Mark II) in Malaysia, you can pre-order from Sony’s official store at Shopee. As a pre-order promotion, they are packaging the WF-1000XM3 in-ear headphones for free which is retailing for RM949. The phone comes in 3 colors: black, purple, and white. According to the listing, the device is expected to ship within 30 days.
In terms of freebies, this is probably the first time that Sony has included the WF-1000XM3 with active noise cancellation for its Xperia phones, but these days you can easily get them for less than RM600 during major online sales. Last year’s Sony Xperia 1 (Mark I) was bundled with the WH-1000XM3 for a value of RM 1,599.
To recap the specs, the Xperia 1 II features a 6.5 ″ 4K HDR OLED display that comes with a 21: 9 aspect ratio and runs on a Snapdragon 865 processor. It is paired with 8GB of RAM and has 256GB. of internal storage that can still be expanded using a microSD card. Although it uses a 60Hz panel, Sony claims that you can get a similar viewing experience at 90Hz with its motion blur reduction technology.
For taking pictures, it features a triple camera setup consisting of a 12MP main camera with a 1 / 1.7 ″ image sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 12MP telephoto camera that offers an optical zoom of 3x. Up front, the device gets an 8MP camera for selfies.
As you’d expect from a Sony flagship, it still has stereo speakers, as well as IP68 dust and water resistance, and now comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sony also has a 20fps burst mode for photography along with real-time Eye Auto Focus. For a cinematic video capture experience, the device has Cinematography Pro with CineAlta technology.
The device is powered by a 4,000 mAh battery that supports USB-PD fast charging via USB-C and also supports wireless charging. If you don’t need a 4K display and prefer a compact flagship model with a 120Hz display, there’s the smaller Xperia 5 II. It retails for RM4,099 and is expected to arrive in Malaysia in December 2020.
