KUALA LUMPUR: Bhd Solutions Group
has entered into a supply agreement with the Ministry of Health to supply Convidicea, a new recombinant coronavirus vaccine also known as adenovirus type 5 vaccine.
In a statement, Solution said that its wholly-owned subsidiary Solution Biologics Sdn Bhd (SOLBIO) would supply 3.5 million doses of the vaccine to the Ministry of Health.
The vaccine was jointly developed by CanSino Biologics Inc and the Beijing Institute of Biotechnology, Academy of Military Medical Sciences.
CanSino has also licensed SOLBIO and granted it the exclusive right to register, manufacture and market the vaccine in Malaysia.
“SOLBIO is in the process of establishing a state-of-the-art filling and finishing (F&F) facility to produce the vaccine in Malaysia. We will also be the regional hub for F&F for CanSino to supply the vaccine to Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and Brunei, ”said Solution Group CEO Datuk Dr. Mohd Nazlee Kamal.
The company received approval from the National Drug Regulatory Agency (NPRA) for the plan and design of the F&F facility in December 2020.
“We expect our 20,000-square-foot F&F center located in the Malaysia Technology Park to be operational by the second quarter of 2021 and will produce up to three million vaccine vials per month.”
