(Reuters) – Mohamed Salah became Liverpool’s all-time top scorer in the Champions League as they drew 1-1 at Denmark’s Midtjylland on Wednesday, having secured first place in Group D.

Salah put the Premier League champions ahead in the first minute, holding on to a bad back pass and exploding towards goal before sliding the ball over goalkeeper Jesper Hansen.

The goal was Salah’s 22nd in the Champions League, making him the club’s top scorer in the competition.

The Danes tied in the 62nd minute on an Alexander Scholz penalty after Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher knocked down Anders Dreyer. The linesman had initially signaled offside, but that decision was overruled by the VAR.

Scholz had an effort canceled for offside in the 77th minute, while Liverpool’s Japanese midfielder Takumi Minamino also had the ball in the net, but the goal was not conceded after a VAR review.

Juergen Klopp had lined up a weakened, youthful team in the game against the last club in the group.
