(Reuters) – Manchester United forwards have forged a strong understanding that makes them a real threat in the Premier League, according to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who will lead his team to Old Trafford on Sunday.
United’s three forwards, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood, combined for 62 goals in all competitions last season and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reinforced his attack by signing Uruguayan international Edinson Cavani last month.
With Daniel James and Odion Ighalo also in their ranks, Arteta said United have options to change their style.
“They create very good relationships and they are all very different. They slide together, they have very good understanding and chemistry on the field. You can see it,” Arteta told Arsenal’s website https://www.arsenal.com/news/ arteta -da-su-takes-solskjaers-man-united.
“Since blocking, Ole has managed to improve that a lot and you can see that at the end of the (last) season, the amount of goals and the type of goals they were scoring. They are a threat.
“They can play two or three different formations … they have been changing some things for the rivals, for the quality of the players they have and sometimes for changing the game at certain times.
“We have to be prepared for that because they have that ability to adapt, they have a great team and up front they have many options to do different things.”
United are undefeated in their last 13 Premier League home games against Arsenal.
“I want to believe that we are getting closer to victory there,” added Arteta.
“For sure our mentality will be to go there and win. That is the approach that we are going to have and the gameplay that we are going to implement.”
United are 15th in the table with seven points from five games, two points behind Arsenal, who are ranked 11th and have played one more game.
