LONDON (Reuters) – Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino said he would like to have another chance to manage the team in the next decade so he can try again to bring them to a trophy.
The Argentine led the Spurs to the Champions League final last year, but his team was defeated 2-0 by Liverpool and was fired in November, ending a four-year stint in successful but uncovered charge.
“It was an incredible journey that ended in a way that no one wanted to end, but deep in my chest, my soul and my heart I am sure that our paths will cross again,” Pochettino told BT Sport on Wednesday.
“From the day I left the club, my dream is to come back and try to finish the job that we didn’t finish. It was an incredible journey, we were so close to winning the correct trophies like the Premier League and the Champions League, we were very close.”
Pochettino, who also led Tottenham to four consecutive results between the top four and the final of the 2015 League Cup, currently has no club.
“Now I am eager to keep going, I am very motivated for the next project but, of course, one day deep down I would like to return,” he added.
“Maybe in five years, maybe 10 years … before I die I want to go back to directing Tottenham and try to win a trophy because I want to feel what it means to win a trophy with Tottenham, that would be a good opportunity to pay all the love that they showed us. “
