It’s no secret that smartphone video recording is becoming more and more popular. After all, it’s easy to set up, doesn’t require a lot of equipment, and you can shoot video on the go. Over the years, smartphone brands have worked hard to improve video recording capabilities, even for entry-level and mid-range phones.

In this article, we will see what Samsung Galaxy Note20 Series Professional video mode can do it. Professional video mode was featured a lot during the recent Samsung Unpacked event and we were curious how advanced it is. Audio monitoring? Do more through video settings control? If you want to know more, read on to see how “pro” is the Pro video mode on the Galaxy Note20 series.

Introduction to professional video mode

When you first enter professional video mode through the camera app UI, the first thing you see is the camera settings. Of course, you’ll see the usual white balance, autofocus, aperture, ISO, and other settings, but what’s new this time?

The professional video mode screen looks more professional and you can choose a 21: 9 aspect ratio for recording

You can also choose to focus on the front, back, or all directions (Omni) for audio recording

While exploring, we discovered that the professional video mode now features two new settings, which are for audio recording and zoom adjustment. As far as we know, only Galaxy Note20 smartphones have these features so far and they definitely allow content creators to make better quality video clips.

Friendly user interface

Despite being labeled Professional Video Mode, the user interface is not difficult to navigate. For example, if you want to use the free zoom, you can use the slider at the bottom (if you are holding the phone vertically) to control it. Not only are screen transitions smooth, you don’t need to slide two fingers across the screen to keep it steady.

As for the audio recording, you can see the mini audio monitor on the screen. To fully control the function, you can tap “Rear” at the bottom and then choose which microphone to record from. Besides that, you can also choose the USB or Bluetooth option. Those two options are very useful additions for those who want to use an external microphone for podcasting.

Demonstrate zoom and audio recording functions simultaneously

To further demonstrate this feature, we did a video test in the audio recording feature, playing around with the ‘Front’ and ‘Omni’ settings. During recording, we noticed that the mic is quite smart because when people were walking around, the audio actually got smoother and then quickly and accurately refocused on the performance we were recording. So, to be honest, we are quite impressed!

Oh, and just a look, the Samsung Galaxy Note20 series is still on sale. You can get the Galaxy Note20 (RM3899), Galaxy Note20 5G (RM4299) or Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G (RM5199).
