SERI KEMBANGAN: A failed thief lost control of his motorcycle and landed in a drain shortly after snatching a bag from him on Thursday (October 29).
Photos of the wounded robber dumped in the drain were shared on Facebook.
Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Razali Abu Samah said the incident occurred around 5.30pm.
“We received information that a woman had been the victim of a robbery in front of a restaurant in Seri Kembangan.
“She screamed for help and the suspect tried to flee the scene but lost control of his machine and fell down a drain,” he said in a statement Friday.
He said passersby rushed in and made a citizen’s arrest before turning him over to police who arrived shortly after.
“Investigations into the suspect revealed several cell phones that we believe were stolen.
“We also found several packages of a substance believed to be drugs in it,” he said, adding that checks revealed that the suspect had a criminal record with four counts.
He said the suspect was now in hospital for medical treatment for a suspected broken leg and internal bleeding in the head.
