Police are also awaiting the Kuala Lumpur Hospital pathology report on one of the six staff members, who tested positive for drugs after a urine test, it added.

“If it is still positive, then the investigation document will be sent to the DPP for further action.”

“I am also investigating the extent of extortion activities involving my staff and officers,” he said.

ACP Razali, who took over from Serdang OCPD on Wednesday (October 28), promised that an internal clean-up will take place with the participation of all officers and staff at the Serdang Police Headquarters (IPD).

“The bad apples will be eliminated.

“I will focus on cleaning our house (IPD Serdang) and ensuring that people’s trust towards the police is at an optimal level,” he added.

Six staff members from the Serdang Police Station were arrested for extorting members of the public in the area around Las Minas and Balakong.

The detained personnel were from the ranks of Koperal, Lans Koperal and Konstabel.

They were detained after a Bukit Aman JIPS team conducted a surprise inspection following reports made by the public.

JIPS checks revealed that the personnel involved were conducting roadblocks in The Mines and Balakong around 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Sources said one of the staff members detained a motorcyclist, who is also a food delivery driver, for too long.

“At 3.25pm (Wednesday), a JIPS team inspected all the personnel and also checked the motorcyclist.

“The victim told JIPS officers that they detained him for driving a motorcycle without a license and using the identity card of another food delivery passenger,” the sources said when contacted by The star Thursday.

The victim also claimed that police personnel had removed his handcuffs to scare him and even asked how to “fix” the matter, the sources added.

Then the police personnel told the victim to wait while he discussed with his group leader how to solve the case.

“At first, the police personnel asked for 7,000 ringgit but the victim only had 500 ringgit. The police personnel then took the cash from the victim,” the sources said.

JIPS also discovered RM900 cash, as a result of extorting other victims, the sources added.

“In addition to keeping the cash in their pockets, the JIPS team also found the RM500 delivered by the motorcyclist hidden inside a mobile police patrol vehicle.

“JIPS discovered that the police personnel involved had performed tasks outside of their jurisdiction.

“They were also subjected to a urine test. One of them tested positive for drugs,” the sources said.
