KUALA LUMPUR: Police have received six reports of a Korean priest who allegedly sexually abused five hearing and speech impaired men in Penang.

Datuk Huzir Mohamed, Director of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (pix) said that five investigation papers were opened in Penang and another in Selangor for the acts allegedly committed by the suspect between 2011 and 2016.

He said the 54-year-old man was in pre-trial detention from November 24 to November 30 following reports from victims aged 27 to 40.

“The suspect, however, had to be quarantined, because he had close contact with a detainee in the dungeon who tested positive for Covid-19.

“The suspect was subsequently arrested again following a police report filed in Kepala Batas, Penang and in pretrial detention for four days to facilitate investigations of two cases in the state,” he said in a statement.

Huzir said that the suspect is currently in pre-trial detention for six days starting on December 13 in connection with a police report filed in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

It is understood that the suspect will face two charges at Butterworth Court in Penang on December 21.

Bernama reported on November 24 that the police had detained a Korean priest to facilitate investigations of various nuisance cases involving various disabled people in Penang.

The suspect, who is also disabled, was detained at a church in Penang on November 23 following police reports of several victims in Seberang Perai Utara state district.Called
