SINGAPORE: Singapore confirmed 528 new additional cases of Covid-19 infections today, of which only six cases involved Singaporeans or permanent residents.
In a statement, the Ministry of Health of the Republic (MOH) indicated that it was still working on the details of the cases and that more updates will be shared later in the day.
However, the ministry attributed the “vast majority” of today’s cases to dormitory residents, raising the republic’s count to 16,169 cases.
In a statement released Wednesday night, the ministry said the number of new cases among the community has decreased, from an average of 25 cases per day in the previous week, to an average of 17 per day in the past week.
As of Wednesday’s count of 15,641, Singapore classified 1,192 as community cases, 571 imported cases and 524 cases related to work permit holders not residing in dormitories.
Meanwhile, the ministry said dormitory residents dominated the count in about 85%, or 13,354 cases, with the majority of cases showing mild symptoms.
