SINGAPORE, Oct 12 (The Straits Times / ANN): Over 900 seats available for the dining experience at Singapore Airlines (SIA) A380 @ Changi restaurant were sold out 30 minutes after reservations opened on Monday (12 Oct October).
Customers who were unable to make a reservation after 12.30am were invited to join a waiting list, which has since also been closed.
Confirming that all seats were filled, a SIA spokesperson told The Straits Times: “Given strong demand and customer interest, Singapore Airlines will reopen the waiting list at KrisShop.com for a limited time starting at 6am. pm on October 12 for customers who are still interested in experiencing the A380 @ Changi restaurant. “
Those on the waiting list will be contacted if there is additional availability.
Lee Lik Hsin, SIA Executive Vice President (Commercial), said: “We are grateful for the extremely strong support from our customers and look forward to welcoming them to the A380 @ Changi Restaurant.”
Among those who managed to buy a lunch ticket was Amy Tay.
The 34-year-old auditor, who considers herself a loyal SIA fan, said she got a ticket to the suite for herself and her one-year-old daughter. Tickets for infants two years and under can be purchased for $ 1.
“You may never have the opportunity to fly as a SIA Suites class passenger and I thought this would be a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience this cabin product,” he said.
Tay added that it will be her daughter’s first time on a plane and she hopes her purchase will help support the airline amid what has been a difficult period for the aviation industry.
The three-hour lunch costs S $ 50 in the economy cabin, S $ 90 for those who wish to sit in the premium economy cabin, S $ 300 for the business class and S $ 600 for the suites.

Other precautions to reduce the risk of spreading the Covid-19 virus include cleaning and disinfecting the aircraft, limiting group sizes to five, implementing safe spacing, and doing a temperature check.
Both the crew and the diners must wear a mask at all times when on board, except when eating or drinking.
