SINGAPORE: Singapore will tighten border measures given the resurgence of cases in Malaysia, the republic’s Health Ministry said today.
A 14-day stay-at-home notice will be imposed at the dedicated facility on all travelers entering Singapore after midnight Sunday (November 22) who have a history of travel, including transit, in the past 14 days to Malaysia.
Additionally, all travelers entering Singapore after 23.59 p.m. From November 27th and who have a history of travel in the last 14 days to Malaysia, they must perform a Covid-19 polymerase chain reaction test within 72 hours of departure.
However, an exception was granted to Singapore citizens and permanent residents or Singapore-based returning travelers under the Singapore-Malaysia RGL, it said.
The quarantine order also applies to travelers entering Singapore to work under the Periodic Displacement Agreement (PCA) and Singapore-based returning travelers under the Singapore-Malaysia Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL), ”the ministry said. .
The ministry had previously announced that travelers from Malaysia can serve a seven-day home quarantine, except for travelers from Sabah, who must serve a 14-day quarantine in specialized facilities.
The ministry reminded travelers of the need for them to submit a valid negative Covid-19 test result as a condition for approval to enter Singapore.
“This requirement will not apply to Singapore-based returning travelers under the Singapore – Malaysia RGL,” he said.
