KUCHING: Malls are taking the necessary precautionary measures to protect shoppers as the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) comes into effect, in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) provided by the state government.

Spring Management Services Sdn Bhd CEO Datin Christine Ling stressed that the safety and health of employees and customers were of utmost importance, and the mall was taking preventative measures to ensure they are protected.

This includes implementing mandatory body temperature controls for each person entering the neighborhood of the mall and providing hand sanitizers at each entrance, as well as limiting the number of open entrances and encouraging social distancing.

“Our construction services team has also devised a foot-activated disinfectant dispenser, which limits manual contact for our customers.

“Spring Food’s Bazaar is also ready to serve our customers with tables located at least two meters away and limiting the number of diners at one table. We have also had all of our staff and our tenants staff declare their health and travel information before coming to work.

“We encourage buyers to complete a declaration form to follow up on contacts using the QR code. It took us a while to prepare the POE because we had to think about each scenario and how we can protect our stakeholders with each scenario.” He explained when The Borneo Post contacted us.

The Spring opens from 10am to 8pm daily, and only companies that are banned during the CMCO cannot operate.

Ling noted that regaining the confidence of shoppers to shop in a public place will be the biggest challenge right now.

“Shoppers are still very cautious when going out to crowded places, which is understandable. Therefore, we will do our best to ensure that the mall is a safe place for everyone to shop, ”he said.

Mall management expects there to be queues and a waiting period to enter the mall or its stores, and has asked customers to be patient with the situation.

“Since this will be the new normal for buyers, we hope that our customers understand it. Let’s all be patient, understanding and tolerant of each other, “he said.

Meanwhile, at Green Heights Mall, shoppers meeting there were mainly heading to their tenant Everrise Supermarket.

The mall will operate daily from 10 a.m. at 10 p.m. During the CMCO period, but beauty and hair salons, schools, and fitness studios remain closed.

The mall is also actively taking precautionary measures, such as controlling the temperature when entering the mall; hand disinfection for all employees, shoppers, and visitors to the mall at entry points; mandatory use of face masks in the shopping center facilities; and compliance with the physical social distance of one meter. Tenants are also doing the same in their respective stores.

Green Heights Mall center manager Sereni Linggi expects all buyers, visitors, and tenants of the mall to comply with the state government SOP.

More importantly, practice good personal hygiene and have the common sense to stay home as much as possible for the next few months.

“The virus is not gone and we want to avoid a second wave because it will affect us even more due to more movement. Go out only when necessary, now is not the time to be careless, “he said.
