Luke Shaw has called on Manchester United to add more signings following Saturday’s loss to Crystal Palace.
United lost 3-1 to Palace at Old Trafford to record their biggest opening day loss in 25 years and then Shaw pleaded with the club for more help before the transfer deadline on October 5.

“We have a very good group, but personally I think we need more players to strengthen the squad,” Shaw said.
“It can give us a boost. When you look around how other teams are strengthening their teams, then we must also do it to keep up with each other.”
United signed Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek from Ajax for £ 40 million, but Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham left him behind, who have made important signings. Sources have told ESPN that the club is in talks about a deal for Porto left-back Alex Telles and that they have not yet given up hope of hitting Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho to the top goal.
Outside of the transfer market, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also struggled to prepare his players for the new season after a brief change of course and Shaw believes the lack of time in training camp was decisive against Palace.
“Personally from my point of view, the preseason that we have had is not the right way it should have been, we have had a week all together,” added Shaw.
“We have not been able to prepare as we wanted and that is no excuse because we have the quality of players to be able to win games like this, but we were not up to the task and they have punished us.
“It’s the beginning of a new season, we should have been fresh.”
