The Selangor state government will provide transportation, food, masks and hand sanitizers to university students affected by the sudden cancellation of their physical registration in higher education institutions.

In a statement today, Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said that the Covid-19 situation has been a serious challenge for everyone, especially for students due to the uncertain status of their studies.

Recently, several students were left stranded due to the Ministry of Higher Education’s last-minute recommendation that higher education institutions postpone the physical registration of students due to the increase in Covid-19 cases.

“The economic situation damaged by the Covid-19 pandemic is generating financial pressure for students. Due to this situation, the Selangor state government through the Selangor Young Adun Caucus will be providing aid,” Amirudin said.

He said those eligible for the aid include students in Selangor who are studying in Selangor, those from other states studying in Selangor, and Selangor students studying in other states.

The assistance provided will include transportation for students to return to their places of origin.

Students who want to order face masks and hand sanitizers can do so here.

For those who want to apply for food aid, the application form can be found here.

Finally, those who need transportation back to their places of origin, can request it here.
