MIRI: A group of seven tourists, who disappeared due to bad weather inside a jungle in the Bau district during a trekking trip, were rescued.

The four men and three women disappeared at the Adis Buan Resort on Sunday (October 4) and were rescued around 1 a.m. Monday (October 5) by search teams from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department.

The site is about 100 km north of Kuching.

The department said the seven missing were found in a jungle location about 45 minutes from the complex.

“The seven people disappeared into the jungle after venturing out on a trek on Sunday.

“The operator of the resort alerted Sarawak Bomba for help last night after the group failed to return to the resort.

“A search party was deployed and all seven were found stranded in the jungle during the rain.

“Search operations ended around 1 am,” the department said in its updates today.

All seven are between the ages of 20 and 65, the department said.

One of them had to be done due to fatigue but all seven were not injured, he added.

The site of the incident is the same area where 11 tourists were rescued last November when they were stranded in a raging river that had risen during heavy rains.
