Seremban under CMCO for two weeks

PETALING JAYA: Seremban District in Negri Sembilan will be subject to a two-week Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) from November 5 to November 18.

“After receiving advice from the Ministry of Health regarding the Covid-19 situation in the Seremban district, the National Security Council (NSC) has decided to impose a CMCO in Seremban that will cover nine sub-districts, including Ampangan, Seremban, Bandar Seremban, Labu, Rantau, Rasah, Setul, Pantai and Lenggeng ”, Chief Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pix) said today at a live press conference.

He added that movement in and out of the area was not allowed, except in emergencies or with the approval of the police.

“Only two people in a household can travel to purchase essentials and high-risk people and children are not encouraged to be present in open and crowded areas,” he said.

Ismail Sabri added that not all forms of social and cultural activities should be carried out and that dinners in restaurants are only allowed for two or four people per table.

All schools, institutes of higher education, vocational institutes, kindergartens, kindergartens and tahfiz centers will be closed.

He added that the CMCO in Seberang Perai Prison and Seberang Perai Prison Lodgings in Penang will run from November 5 to November 18.

“However, the CMCO in the prisons of the northern areas and the Selangor areas will end tomorrow (November 4) as scheduled,” he said.

Meanwhile, he said a total of 381 people were arrested yesterday for violating the recovery movement’s control order.

“Nine individuals were sent to preventive detention while the remaining 372 were given compounds,” he added.

The crimes committed were not wearing face masks (151), ignoring social distancing (37), not providing equipment for the contact tracing record (66), hosting private parties (26), operating against assigned hours (24), visiting entertainment centers (nine) and others (68).

In addition, Ismail Sabri said that 2,396 teams under the compliance working group carried out checks at 11,545 locations, including supermarkets, restaurants, markets, places of worship and entertainment areas.

He said that Ops Benteng, which involved the Armed Forces, police, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) and the Malaysian Border Security Agency (AKSEM) had arrested a total of 46 illegal immigrants yesterday.

In addition, four ground vehicles were seized while Ops Benteng was being conducted.

Meanwhile, it said that 59,966 people have returned to Malaysia through the international border entrance from July 24 to Monday.

Of that number, 381 people were sent to the hospital for treatment and 9,779 had to go through mandatory quarantine.

A total of 49,806 people were allowed to return home after completing their mandatory quarantine.
