KUALA LUMPUR: Senator Ras Adiba Mohd Radzi (Photo)The 52-year-old is the new president of Bernama, Malaysia’s National News Agency, and the first woman to be appointed to the position.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah made the announcement here on Tuesday (November 24) and said that he will be in office for three years from November 23.
“We all know her as a veteran in the world of broadcasting and I am sure she has enough experience to help us improve the quality of presenting news and current affairs,” she told reporters during a press conference in Parliament. on Tuesday.
Ras Adiba, who was present during the press conference, also thanked Yang di-Pertuan Agong for agreeing to his appointment as president of the Bernama.
“I’ll do my best. As you know, I grew up in front of most of you and I feel like this is the time to give back all the experiences I had after 34 years in the industry.
“I am not just a news reader, but have been a television director and producer in various places. I will cooperate with everyone and God willing, come up with some vibrant ideas and work with the existing team to produce top notch news and stories, ”he said.
Ras Adiba also expressed optimism in assuming her new role as Bernama president, and said more compelling human interest stories would be in the works.
“We have to make it fresher and more modern. I can’t wait to meet the team. I know some people are skeptical, but it’s okay with me because I’m from the media industry.
“You can challenge me as much as you can. Because this is what I do best, ”he said.
