PETALING JAYA: Selangor Police have set their sights on reducing the crime rate, which includes intentional homicide, rape, robbery and aggravated assault, by 5% and expects to do so through crime prevention operations across the state .

Datuk K. Kumaran, head of Selangor’s Crime Prevention and Community Security department, said that the police would carry out such operations during September, as the crime rate had increased after the movement control order of Selangor was introduced. recovery (OLS).

“Among the index crimes we will pay close attention to in these operations are cases of robberies on the road.

“These cases can cause trauma to the victims and generate fear within the community,” he said after starting operations at the Petaling Jaya police headquarters on Tuesday (September 1).

SAC Kumaran urged the community to step up and help the police by channeling information about criminal activities.

“We need information to be able to act.

“The operations will involve 742 officers and personnel from nine districts (Petaling Jaya, Serdang, Kajang, Gombak, Ampang Jaya, Sungai Buloh, Shah Alam, North Klang and South Klang),” he said.

He explained that the operations would also involve joint operations such as static controls and mobile surveillance through barricades and patrols.

We will also conduct raids to apprehend identified criminals and wanted persons.

“From January 1 to August 31, we recorded 1,031 gang robberies, 610 robberies, 2,095 robberies, 1,020 vehicle robberies, 3,001 motorcycle robberies and 1,838 burglaries,” he said.
