PETALING JAYA: The Selangor police will continue to take steps to ensure that the public complies with the conditional movement control order (MCO).
Selangor CID chief Communications Assistant Datuk Fadzil Ahmat said his operations were still ongoing to ensure that the Covid-19 chain of infection is broken.
“With the conditional MCO in effect now, we will send our teams to public areas to make sure they meet the guidelines set by the government.
“Maintaining social distance is a necessity and that is one of the main things that our teams will be out to look at and advise the public,” he told reporters at the Selangor police headquarters on Friday (May 8).
He said his teams would also be equipped with hailers to make announcements and give advice to the public in public places like shopping malls, hypermarkets and markets.
“Today we will send a team led by Asst Supt Noorhamasiren Boonthnam Ekkasook from Selangor CID.”
“His team will go to the Mutiara Damansara area to speak to the public and just remind them to maintain social distance and abide by the law,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, Com. Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim, in a statement said that in light of the conditional MCO, 142 compliance teams have been established comprising 926 staff members.
“They will go out to ensure that the 13 prohibited activities, such as cultural, entertainment, artistic, religious, and social gatherings that involve close contact, are not performed.”
“We advise the public to comply with the guidelines established in the conditional MCO and guarantee the health and safety of you and your family.
